The Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, often abbreviated as SWPPP or SW3P, is a plan created by constructors to show their plans for sediment and erosion control by assigning various best management practice (BMP) products to sections of the jobsite. BMP Products provide sediment and water pollution control and can include inlet filters, fencing, barriers, construction entrances, and more.
The purpose of a SWPPP is to help the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) preserve and improve water quality by regulating facilities that discharge water containing small amounts of pollutants. Having a SWPPP in place can prevent fines and expenses for non-compliance. Each BMP Product comes with its own unique set of benefits. In general, BMP Products assist in keeping your jobsite clean and compliant. They reduce soil erosion, lower contaminant loadings, reduce sedimentation and runoff, control track out, and manage stormwater.
